About Boracay
Boracay is a resort island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines, located 0.8 kilometers (0.50 mi) off the northwest coast of Panay.
It is one of the top Islands in the Philippines and is popular for its beaches and blessed with a long stretch of powdery white sand, crystal clear and azure waters, and a stunning sunset.
Boracay is served by two airports: Kalibo International Airport (KLO) and Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (MPH), more commonly called Caticlan Airport.
Boracay's two primary tourism beaches, White Beach and Bulabog Beach, are located on opposite sides of the island's narrow central area. White Beach faces westward and Bulabog Beach faces eastward. The island also has several other beaches.
The best time to visit Boracay is during the dry season, which starts in November and runs through May. Called the 'Amihan season' this period brings with it, the cold, northeast wind across the island. Humidity and rainfall remain low, and the sea water is perfect for swimming, diving, and other activities.
The White Beach stands out for its more than 7 kilometers of white sand and crystal-clear water. It is divided in 3 stations that we describe below:
- Station 1: It has the best and finest stretch of white sand in the entire island, and where most luxury resorts are found. It is also a quieter area compared to Station 2.
- Station 2: It is a convenient, busy area with lots of people and where you can find 'D'Mall', an assortment of shops and restaurants.
- Station 3: It is a less crowded area compared to Station 2 and where you can find cheaper resorts.
Must Visit Places in Boracay
Boracay has a lot more to offer. Here are tourist spots that you should visit:
- Puka Shell Beach - is a popular alternative to the party side of Boracay. Much different from the other parts of the island, the waves here can get a little choppy during the day. So, instead of the noise of partygoers, all you’ll hear are the natural sounds of nature.
- Ariel’s Point - this Boracay gem is the perfect change of scenery from the Boracay you’re used to. It is most popular for their 15-meter high “diving boards” where adventure junkies can leap off to the clear waters below.
- Mount Luho - rising 100 meters above sea level, Mount Luho is the highest point in the island. It’s the best spot to see the beauty of Boracay like never before.
- Crystal Cove - is one of the must-visit island-hopping destinations when you’re in Boracay. The private island is filled with mini coves, picturesque views, statues, and never-ending photo op spots all over the island.
- Bulabog Beach - Also known as “back beach”, a visit to Bulabog is not the typical Boracay experience you would expect. It is popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
- Diniwid Beach - is just a short walk away from all the bars yet it seems to be on a different island. The small, serene beach is your quick escape from the bustling station 1 and 2.
- Willy’s Rock - is probably one of the most recognizable attractions in the island. Named after the resort in front of it, the oddly shaped volcanic formation can be found in Station 1.
